Weird but Wonderful Beauty Tips

There are hundreds of beauty tips out there and some of them are utter garbage and can waste hours of your time!

Here is a list of beauty tips that DO actually work.

If your hair is looking a little greasy and you don’t have time to wash and blow dry your hair use a fluffy makeup brush and apply a small amount of loose powder, don’t forget to remove the excess powder by tapping the brush on your hand, and apply to you roots. This works a miracle as the powder removes all traces of oil and no one will ever know that you have skipped a shower.

If you like to keep fit and go to the gym before a night out (well done you if you do!!!) and leave your house still looking red and flushed you should take an antihistamine as soon as you leave the gym to reduce the red cheek look.

It can be hard work hunting for a red lipstick, especially one that stays put all night but there are several out there now that stay put all night no matter how much drinking, eating and kissing you do but one slight problem these lipsticks tend to want to stay put even in the morning. Instead of coming home and rubbing your lips and smearing the lipstick over your face making you look  more like the joker and not a sexy scarlet you need to dip a cotton pad into make-up remover and gently rub over your lips. Trust me this works a treat!

When you have given your locks a blow dry instead of coating your hair in hairspray and risking making it look like you have not washed your hair and leaving it feeling hard the best way to give your hair volume and shine is to spray hairspray onto your brush and run it through your hair, roots to tips.

This is not a myth – tooth paste does work on spots! I have tried and tested this one and it worked! All you do is put a small amount on the spot and leave for 20 minutes to absorb then wash.

If I have not had a good nights sleep and especially if I have been drinking alcohol my skin looks irritated, red and puffy but to cure this I use a green tea bag that is slightly warm and dab over my face. This instantly freshens up my skin and gets rid of the puffy look!

Whether you have striking blue eyes or dark brown eyes you should always make them stand out and shine!

Prescriptives Motor-Eyes Instant Impact Mascara

I have fallen in love with another beauty product and this time its Prescriptives Motor-Eyes Instant Impact Mascara!

I have never used an electronic powered mascara, I was always a little skeptical of them, I mean it doesn’t take rocket science to move the wand over your lashes. But I thought they must be good if Estee Lauder and Lancome both have a range of electronic powered mascara’s and as a fan of Prescriptives mascara I had to try there version and wow, wow, wow its amazing!!!

The mascara consists of a vibrating wand which coats your lashes jet black whilst giving them a long, lushes curl. The end results leaves your lashes looking that glamorous that they could be mistaken for wearing fake lashes.

Another bonus is that the mascara does the work for you so if it’s the morning after a heavy night you can just apply your mascara without worrying that your hand is shaky.

I bought mine from Selfridges for £25.00 and its £25.00 very well spent!

Tests prove that face creams DO beat the wrinkles!

Hurray! Scientists have clinical proof that face creams do reduce wrinkles.

A cream that is now going to be falling off the shelves and in very high demand is Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum. Tests have been done on this product and found it stimulated the production of fibrillin-1, a protein that promotes elasticity in the skin which is lost with sun damage and smoothes out your wrinkles.

Not only does this cream work it costs only £19.75!!!!!!!!!!

I have a lot of confidence in buying a product that has been tested on and proven results instead of a picture of a flawless model who has most likely been air brushed so I am definitely off to Boots today to hopefully pick one up if they haven’t sold out already!

Healthy fingernails…

I have been wearing acrylic nails for a loooooong time and I have had them off for one week and I am in agony! I want to go and get my acrylic nails put back on but I need to let them breathe for the first time in years before I do that!

I have been doing some research on ways to try and strengthen my nails so I will share my tips with you!

From what I have found out it is all about supplements and a balanced diet.

Protein is important to build calcium in the nails so you need to eat plenty of chicken and fish. This will help brittle nails and ragged cuticles.

Make sure you stock up on your vitamins. To build keratin you need Vitamin C, Vitamin E and biotin in combinations.

If you notice white spots on your nails you need to take Zinc.

When washing up and cleaning always wear rubber gloves to protect your nails from the chemicals used in cleaning products.

Use a hand and nail cream daily. You can also buy creams specially designed for your cuticles that you should use every day to push the skin down.

If you really want to give your hands and nails some TLC, smoother your hands in moisturiser and wear light cotton gloves to bed.

How to make your lipgloss last longer…

I love having glossy lips when I am on a night out but obviously when I am on a night out I also love to drink! But as soon as I have a few sips of vino by lipgloss likes to stick to the glass and come off my lips.

So if like myself this happens to you the trick is to prepare you lips by layering up so your lipgloss stays put.

Before you go out fill your entire lips in a lip liner that matches the colour of your lips. Then apply a neutral lipstick. This gives your lipstick something to hold onto so it doesn’t grab onto your glass of wine instead.

Easy!!!

Ways to control your oily skin this summer…

It’s nice to have a glow to your skin but its going one step to far when you have an oily nose and forehead. It seems to be more OTT in summer and can be a constant bother battling with the spots!

Instead of hiding away from the heat there are plenty of products out there that will help.

Firstly you need to stock up on products that are specially designed for oily complexions to make sure your skin stays as clean and clear as possible and does not clog up your pores with dirt.

Removing make-up can sometimes involve using a greasy remover that will most likely leave you with more spots so you should go for Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil Free Make-Up Remover. I have used this before and it wipes all your make-up off without leaving your skin greasy.

If you suffer from oily skin it is important that you give yourself a facial every week to remove all traces of grease, dirt and blackheads.

Moisturiser is a must have for oily-skin. I take my trusty Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion everywhere with me, it keeps your skin hydrated for the day and absorbs immediately leaving skin soft and fresh.

Oily skin can play havoc with make-up so you have to take extra care when choosing and applying your make-up.

There are plenty of foundations that are designed specially for oily skin. For a foundation that works a treat for oily skin is Bobbi Brown Oil Free Even Finish Foundation which has 100 per cent oil-free formula to keep skin looking fresh and even all day.

When applying eyeshadow you need to go for a powder and not a cream eyeshadow. I know cream eyeshadows can be glam but by the end of the night you will have a creased line of eyeshadow. If you use powder it will absorb excess oil.

Cream blushers can rub off easily so choose a powder blusher instead. Oily skin can also make your mascara run, giving you smudges and panda eyes, so opt for a waterproof mascara which will stay put all day.

A MUST, MUST, MUST do is carry blotting papers in your bag for instant touch-ups to remove shine and help stop the build-up of dirt in the pores.

The wonders of Bio Oil

I have spoke to several people about Bio Oil and it always surprises me how most people have not got a clue who I am speaking about and have never heard of Bio Oil, this is a crime, Bio Oil is fantastic and everyone needs to know about it!!!

Everyone, even Kate Moss, will one day awake to find a dreaded stretch mark and instead of crying over it all day you need to get to work and that’s where Bio Oil comes to the rescue.
