Party Bags

My cousin is only 10 but already she is hooked in fashion and make-up i thought this was really odd for a 10 year old but i have now realised that this is not just her as all her girly friends are exactly the same. I remember being 10 and i didn’t have a care in the world about make-up my main concern was about playing out with my friends and getting covered in dirt.

So anyway back to my cousin when she turned 10 last week family and her friends went to a children’s beauty salon where all the girls got dolled up, the beautician painted there hand and toe nails, blushed there cheeks and applied eye shadow, lipstick and a tiny bit of mascara. Then they all had there hair styled depending on what look they wanted to go for. I was amazed at how much the kids enjoyed themselves and it was like mixing with a bunch of young adults but it seems to be the popular choice of a girls perfect birthday party now. If you have a young girl who already loves fashion and getting glammed up  then this will definitely put you in there good books and gives them the coolest birthday party to brag about!

After the pamper we all went back to my Aunties where we had snacks and lipstick birthday cake and to end the party all the children went back with party bags. These party bags took me and my auntie 2 hours to sort out the night before so i was relieved to see how pleased they were with them when we dished them out. As the theme of the party was beauty we decided to fill the party bags with beauty products, here is what we went for if you want to pinch an ideas:

Free makeovers and beauty products

As we all no and probably don’t want to be reminded there is a credit crunch going on at the moment so we have to watch those pennies and not splash out on loads of beauty products, booooo! (Well not as many…that makes me feel a little better!)

I am quite a bugger for applying on all sorts of business mailing lists and i no when you hear the word mailing list you think junk, junk and more junk but i am actually really benefiting from some of the companies that have been mailing me. Firstly i have LOTS of samples of new and exciting beauty products. I love samples as it gives me a chance to test and if i don’t like it i no never to buy and if i do like it then i will head out to the shop to buy! The best is to come i am on my second FREE makeover of the month and i have had my hair curled for FREE. I have also got coupons to have my nails done cheap.

So seriously if you are looking for samples and freebies get joining mailing lists and you will be surprised by what offers you receive in your e-mail inbox!

Celebrities who steal for living…

Welcome to the crazy mind of Winona Ryder! I know this was over a year ago but she left it 6 years until she stole again! Winona Ryder, 37-year-old actress was convicted of shoplifting back in 2002 from Saks Fifth Avenue trying to escape from the store with £3000 worth of clothes and then was caught stealing make-up from a Hollywood store in 2008 so who knows when this little thief will strike again!

It still surprises me that she was stupid enough to steel clothes but to go and do it again is just dumb! Winona is a pretty woman and a known celebrity so I am sure that if she was to ring around leading cosmetic company brands they would be happy to send her free samples if it gave the company some publicity.

What I don’t understand is that she was not even trying to escape with expensive make-up it was make-up from a Pharmacy that I am sure she could scrape the change around in her purse to be able to pay for. Its not like the pharmacy will be selling top of the range £100 foundations, she is obviously likes to keep an eye on her pennies so instead of stealing she should head to the nearest Collection 2000 stand!

I find it hilarious that when quizzed she didn’t know how it happened, yeah right and then returned the unpaid items and walked out!

It looks like this woman will not give up until she gets away with it so shops beware and make sure you have IP security cameras following her every move if she wonders into your shop looking sweet and innocent!

Protect your make-up kit

This is a very random post but worth reading if you own tons of make-up and cosmetics in a storage room with fire sprinklers!!!

My friend is a make-up artist and her kit is pretty breath taking! There is everything from M.A.C to Chanel and all the best skin and hair treatments out there but as it is so enormous i am talking boxes and boxes of the stuff she hired out a small office in a converted warehouse to store all her kit. I was in my element whenever we had to go there together as i was always to dip my hand in and take some bits, anyway less of me ranting…to my friends utter shock and mine of course she went to her office one day to find that in the night the residential fire sprinklers went off and as she has never thought about this her kit was not protected and came in to find the majority of it ruined. All her gorgeous eyeshadow pallets that were laid out on tables were soaking, wigs ruined and knotted, blusher pallets crumbled your getting the gist of it, basically the placed was in ruins and her much beloved kit was not such a pretty site anymore! Obviously you cant blame the fire sprinklers for this as it could of been much worse and all set on fire saving nothing and items that are irreplaceable such as her portfolio but what you can so is prepare for incidents like this and fully protect your kit!

When the office eventually dried up all the make-up is now in clear plastic boxes, pallets are never left open with the lid closed firmly at night and wigs are all kept safe in a cupboard. The good thing that has come out of this is that its a joy to go into the office now and everything is more organised and neat.

So if you are going to rent space to store your make-up kit like my friend think twice before walking out leaving everything lying around as you do not want to go through the same experience and risk ruing your treasured kit!!!

Holiday Preparation

I can’t believe that summer is nearly here and the weather is horrendous! That’s why i can’t wait to hop onto a plain and fly into some real sunshine!

I usually go on beach holiday where you lie on a beach all day drinking cocktails and come back several pounds heavier but this time i am going for something a bit more action packed and heading on a safari holiday, so excited!!! The only thing that is making me panic a little about this holiday is that i have to pack realistic and most importantly lightly!

On safari holidays 9 times out of 10 you will be lugging your bag round on your back the whole time unless your lucky enough to get someone else do this for you. I am one of the unfortunate ones though who will be having a bag strapped to my back for 10 days so i have to only take a few cosmetics and beauty products, nooooooooooooooooo!

So instead of going into panic mode i have thought of a few cheat ways round this! If you are off on a Safari holiday and would definitely recommended trying the below tips:

Face –
When you are on holiday there is nothing worse than slapping a full mask of make-up on before you head out. You are going to end up looking dirty, getting spots and it really is not a good look with mascara running down your face. That is why i am getting dark, extension eyelashes fitted then i don’t have to worry about mascara for the rest of the holiday and will have glamorous lashes. I have bought several bottles of Dermalogica sun tan lotion that is also a powerful moisturiser so that i do not need to worry about moisturising daily and there is also very slight colouring mixed in the bottle. I will also be wearing Nivea Lip Care Pearl and shine as not only does this protect my lips and keeps them moisturised it leaves then looking pink and shiny. That’s all that i will be taking for my face so my bag will not way a ton and i will still feel glam!

Hair –
When you are on holiday the worst thing you can do is use your hairdryer and straightners. The best thing to do is stock up on John Frieda Frizz Ease products. I am taking there shampoo, conditioner and dream curls perfecter. This will protect my hair and only take a few minutes to create curls. I have also got a stash of headbands, bobbles and pretty hair clips.

Style Crush – Lindsay Lohan

I have new style crush and this time it is the ever annoying but always looking fabulous Lindsay Lohan! Ok so she has a dropped to a scary size 0 since her split with Samantha Ronson but when it comes to beauty this girl is stunning and what admires me the most is her “no fear” attitude to experimenting with her look. Li-lo is never seen with the same hair colour or style and her make-up always works perfect with her outfit to create a funky, fun look.

Including that Lindsay is one of the hottest celebrities in Tinsletown you would think that she would be afraid to change her looks so often as the press watch her every move but you can tell this girl really does not care and does what she wants to do and fair play to her as she rocks every look!

When i heard recently the Lindsay had an attempted robbery she was probably more worried about how many pairs of shoes that would get stolen and her cosmetics draw being raided that will be  rammed with all the best cosmetics in the industry! Thank god for intruder alarm systems! To be honest i no it sounds vain but i would be more devastated if my cosmetics get stolen than some of my house possessions like my TV and sofa.

What else i admire about Lindsey is that everyone knows that she is a party girl and even when she rolls out of a club at 5am she still looks immaculate, how does she do this??? One thing that i notice with many celebs not just Lindsey if that they still have a bright eyed look even after a few hours sleep and many vodkas i have heard that the secret behind this is lemonade, yes that is not a myth lemonade creates bright and alert eyes! All you need to do is place two dots onto your eyelids and one in the middle of your brow bone. The lemonade will remove signs of redness, puffiness and discoloration of the eyelids. So there is one tip for the morning after a heavy night, i have not tried it yet but i will be this weekend!

In a hurry – do you apply your make-up in the car???

It surprises me just how many people i see driving in rush hour applying there make-up, brushing hair, having a quick squirt of perfume and touching up lipgloss and its not just us girls being vain men are just as bad finishing off there morning shave in the car so they are not late for meetings! Yes, men really do get caught doing this!

I must admit i have done it on one occasion but one occasion only and never again. I was running late and had to drive with my make-up rolling all over the passenger seat and trust me applying mascara whilst driving is only going to make you look like you have had a round in the ring with Mike Tyson and leave you will blotchy make-up! Much to my disappointment and obviously my own fault my favourite Chanel compact fell on the floor and cracked! One big reason why this is a big no, no!

Even it means getting out of you pit 10 minutes early it is worth it and you are then guaranteed to leave the house looking beautiful and you will feel much better in yourself for not rushing.

If like myself you own a ridiculous amount of make-up and its your pride and joy you need to not drive around with it in your car or if you are going to at least fit a vehicle tracking system so those little thief’s who tried to sneak off with your property will not get very far!!!

The return of “Jordan”

Every one beware there is a new piece of single trash on the market again aka Katie Price. Now she is single again i am sure the trowel will be coming out and the hair extensions will be bigger and longer than ever.

It has come to no surprise to me to hear that Katie Price and Peter Andre have split up after looking at pictures of her out in Brighton last weekend. She was in full on Jordan mode with a ton of jet back eyeliner and mascara, extremely green and blue smoky eyeshadow, hair scraped back, orange glow skin and of course her gigantic boobs hanging out! Looking like no other than a drag tranny clown!

Katie seemed to look much more elegant since marrying Peter Andre and becoming a mum of three, her hair turned dark brown, her boobs deflated and her make-up was more subtle showing that under all that slap she is actually a natural beauty.

She obviously can not give up her a glamour girl lifestyle and is happy to leave her husband behind for this and i am sure we will be seeing much more of her in the next couple of months falling out of bars and splashed across the Bizarre page of the The Sun newspaper everyday and owning the very proud first place spot of worst dressed!

On the plus side ladies Peter Andre has been looking pretty buff recently and i am sure he will waste no time looking for his replacement…

WOW…check out Susan Boyles make-over

Every time I look at pics of Susan Boyle she has had another drastic change to her appearance. Since appearing on Britains Got Talent everyone seems to have gone Susan Boyle mad and the fame is obviously making her take extra pride of her appearance.

Where has the grey, frizzy hair gone? Where is the make-up free woman with one eyebrow who appeared on our screens 2 weeks ago? Where has the women with no style gone? Someone must of hid the real Susan Boyle and replaced her with a stylish, fresh faced, two eyebrows, dark styled hair Susan Boyle and I like it!

Her makeover is that drastic she could of appeared on 10 years younger and this is only after a few weeks. I wonder how she is going to look in a couple of months time? I wonder is she is going to have any cosmetic surgery? I think she looks fab now and definitely doesn’t need to go down that path! A new haircut, groomed eyebrows and a touch of red lipstick has given her instant glamour and proves that you don’t need to pay thousands for a quick makeover.

She seems to be keeping it “real” though as she will now have top hairdressers wanting to play with her locks but instead she opted for a local salon in her hometown costing only £51.00.

Pretty For Prom

This year is going so fast and before we know it the most popular event of the year will need to be penciled in your diary…PROM NIGHT!!!

Preparing for your prom night is pretty daunting and you will want originality and glamour the last thing you want is your best friend turning up in the same dress as you!

Your make-up needs to be flawless, you don’t want to turn up looking like a drag-queen on prom night. If you are lucky enough to have a beautician to apply your make-up make sure they do not go overboard on your eyes in smoky grey and cape on to much black mascara and eyeliner, not a pretty look for a prom. If you are going to be applying your make-up yourself go for a more natural look. All you need is a natural base and use concealer to cover up dark circles under your eyes and any blemishes. As you are going to be up on your feet all night dancing I would recommend using a powder to hold your foundation onto your face. On your eyelids use a lavender shade (very 2009!) not only is lavender bang on trend it is also a flattering colour for everyone and add a touch of black mascara to give you longer, fuller lashes. Your cheek colour should be a light pink, start at the apple of your cheeks and blend down giving the effect of striking cheek bones. Don’t forget to leave your house without lipgloss. Lip-gloss will give your lips and sexy look making all the men want to kiss you!

When it comes to prom night your hair plays a major part! Your hair will complete your outfit and has to be looking its best for your night. I would recommend going for an updo as it is a classic look and is ultra elegant. The prettiest updo has to be the pony loop at the back and every hairdresser will now what you mean if you ask for this look. If you want to create the look yourself you need to scrape your hair back with a paddle brush to style the hair into a pony and use hair pins to pin the pony back.

Now the exciting part…your dress! Getting the most beautiful prom dress you can find is vital. Choosing prom dresses is a once-in-a-life time experience so you want to spend time and effort.

Before picking your prom dress make sure you tick these boxes:

Are you going to be able to eat and drink in your dress and also have a good dance?

Will the colour flatter your figure?

Do your accessories match?

Your prom is the opportunity for you to look and feel your best and if your hair and make-up is to perfection your dress needs to be equally as good.
