Perfect Treat for the perfect Make-up Pro

July 17, 2009

I was lucky enough to get a Bobbi Brown make-over this weekend and the sucker I am I walked away with every bloody product they used on me! I am not complaining though as I am in love with all of it and a girl can never have to many beauty products.

With Bobbi Brown not only is there range fantastic it also looks so attractive and I feel very smug pulling my Bobbi Brown palette out of my bag to re-touch my make-up.

One thing I noticed when I was in there was a BBU Palette this would not benefit myself but would work wonders for the pros. It is a limited-edition palette that includes pans of every Bobbi Brown shade of foundation, concealer and corrector. There is also an empty palette for mixing your own shades together, genius!

At £156.59 it is not cheap but it is the ultimate dream for a professional make-up artist!

Spring 2009 = Lilac Make-up

April 17, 2009

Ok so you might not of worn lilac make-up since you were a little girl playing in your mums make-up bag but this Spring the colour to be seen out in is lilac!

Think metallic lilac with your floral skirt or dress, this is starting to sound oh-so-wearable now.

The majority of my summer clothes have some kind of lilac in there so I think this might actually look good.

To get the eyeshadow right you definitely can not go overboard. Paris Hilton looks ever so chic below and has mastered the trend to perfection. I love the dark liner with the purple eyeshadow, hot!

So ladies its time to hit the shops and stock up on lilac eyeshadow pallets!!!

Swirl with a large brush for naturally glowing colour. From £12, available at Selfridges or call 0207 318 3538 for mail order.

Fancy Dress Make-Up and Outfit

March 6, 2009

I love fancy dress, it is so much fun so I was pretty excited when I got my invite to a hen party! It is all very OTT and the theme is pink.

Already I have my outfit on order and picked out all my make-up so I thought I would share my make-up and outfit plans for you so if you are organising a hen party you can pinch some inspiration and ideas.

I love pink so for my outfit all the girls are going for pink custom polo shirts with the brides name on the front with a big L in glitter and a list of commands for the night and on the back is our names. All very tacky but after all it is a hen night and that’s how it should be! To finish the look we are wearing pink tutus and 6 inch pink stilettos.

The fun bit now is the make-up! As the outfit is trashy we thought it would be a good idea to keep the make-up just as bad and all very pink.

For our eyes we are going for 3 M.A.C eyeshadows blended together. They actually look fab the colours we went for were Passionate, Pink Venue and Star Violet. Firstly Passionate will go on my eyelids then Star Violet will be blended in with Star Violet to finish the look at the eyebrow arch.

The best is that we are all wearing huge pink fake eyelashes that look more like feathers, I am not looking forward for this after to many glasses of vino, but I have to wear them and i am pretty sure i will still be wearing them in the morning. I have never seen such crazy fake eyelashes. To finish the look my eyeliner is electric pink with a sparkly effect.

I am keeping the rest of my make-up neutral with a touch of pink blusher and glossy lips.

Hope this helps if you are stuck for ideas for a hen party and if you need any advice let me know…

Max Factor – Age Renew Foundation

February 20, 2009

When it comes to foundation I usually wear my trusty M.A.C foundation but it can be a bugger to get your hands on in an emergency. It was my own fault for leaving it to late to go and buy some and I didn’t have time to go Selfridges so went to Boots and for a change bought Max Factor Age Renew Foundation.

OK, I am only in my twenties and this is probably for the older generation but I just wanted to try it out, nothing is wrong with wanting to feel more youthful but I was really disappointed. I don’t know if it is because I suffer from oily skin but I feel like I am wearing a mask and within 30 mins of wearing this foundation all I want to do is wash my face. It really does not agree with oily skin and makes it 10 times more oilier.

It was surprised by this as I have used Max Factor foundation in the past and been happy with the results but I would definitely not recommend this foundation for anyone who suffers from oily skin like me. I am going to give it to my friend who has dry skin and see if she thinks it works for her but I doubt it as it feels like you are putting paste onto your face.

How to apply your blusher to perfection

February 17, 2009

It can be tough work applying blusher and people sometimes tend to shy away from using it incase you leave the house looking more like a clown than a beauty queen.

For a night out blusher is a must have as it gives you an ultra glam look and is the secret weapon to beauty and to die for cheek bones.

So don’t be afraid to add the blush just follow these simple steps:

Firstly make sure you choose the right colour, there is hundreds of blusher colours to choose from and if you go to a beauty counter I am sure the staff will be more than happy to pick out the right colour for you.
If you are a beginner though I would highly recommend starting with powder blusher.

Next you need to invest in a good blusher brush, you cant beat M.A.C for a quality brush, just make sure you buy a good one as cheap ones tend to fall out and it is not a good look going out with black hair all over your face.

Now you have the kit its time to add the blusher!!!

Add a small amount of blusher onto your brush and get ready for work!

Whenever I am adding blusher I pout, funny look but it helps find my cheek bones.

Start at the apples of your cheeks and go up your cheek bone in long stokes. Repeat again if need be.

Now take the pout  of your face and you will have fab blusher and look gorgeous for your night out.

To finish the look you should sweep the blusher brusher over your nose, chin and forehead.

Radiant Glow

February 15, 2009

My auntie is a make-up artist so obviously i am always rummaging through her make-up kit to pinch samples and i have found the best powder pearls that give you an amazing glow by Prescriptives Winter Reflections All-Over-Highlighter Pearls.

The pot consists of loads of mini pearls in three different shades of rose, peach and white. If you get a big blusher brush and apply over your face it will leave you will an all-over-glow.

They give you the most beautiful complexion and i know i will definitely be stocking up on more of these when i run out. They will also be perfect for a summer day when you don’t want to cape your face in make-up but want add shimmer to your look.

LBD and Red Lipstick = Must Have!

November 21, 2008

The LBD is the perfect dress for attending a party. I always rely on black dresses as you can’t go wrong and they look amazing with anything. It is definitely a wardrobe essential for any woman!

With black dresses you have to make yourself stand out and that’s when the fun begins. I love making a black dress look extra special by adding lots of accessories and killer heals and applying dramatic makeup.

To add instant sex appeal to your LBD add striking red lipstick. This has attitude of its own and will make you look drop dead gorgeous with luscious, kissable lips!

Make sure that when it comes to your eyes you add lots of black, heavy mascara and eyeliner to make your eyes look bold. Heavy eyeliner instantly draws attention to your eyes and keep applying the mascara until your lashes are dramatic, don’t forget to do the same to your lower lash line and finish the look with grey eye shadow. The grey eyeshadow will give your look a sexy spark.

Keep your foundation and blusher neutral with a slight shimmer to look super sexy!

When you have done your makeup don’t forget to paint your finger and toe nails ruby red to match your lips.

If you are still shy to wear red lipstick with your LBD look at the celeb’s below and I am sure you will give it a go on your next night out…..

Christmas trend – metallic make-up

November 17, 2008

Metallic make up is going to be the hottest look this season!

I love metallic make-up and it adds instant glamour to any outfit. To be honest I was not a huge fan of the Goth make-up trend, it just didn’t work for me and makes you look pretty washed out and can only look good with certain outfits.

That’s why I was sooooooo happy to see the catwalks sporting metallic make-up, anyone can wear metallic make-up and it goes with everything from your LBD to your jeans and heels.

All major cosmetic lines are set to realise a selection of new metal colours ready for December.

I know that I will be stocking on plenty of glam gold, silver and copper eyeshadow shades ready to sparkle this Christmas!

Mary-Kate Olsen and Jennifer Lopez show how the trend is worked below and don’t they look amazing!!!
