Christmas trend – metallic make-up

November 17, 2008

Metallic make up is going to be the hottest look this season!

I love metallic make-up and it adds instant glamour to any outfit. To be honest I was not a huge fan of the Goth make-up trend, it just didn’t work for me and makes you look pretty washed out and can only look good with certain outfits.

That’s why I was sooooooo happy to see the catwalks sporting metallic make-up, anyone can wear metallic make-up and it goes with everything from your LBD to your jeans and heels.

All major cosmetic lines are set to realise a selection of new metal colours ready for December.

I know that I will be stocking on plenty of glam gold, silver and copper eyeshadow shades ready to sparkle this Christmas!

Mary-Kate Olsen and Jennifer Lopez show how the trend is worked below and don’t they look amazing!!!

Shine this Christmas

November 12, 2008

Can you believe it is nearly Christmas, so you know what that means …it is time to do some serious partying!!!

I absolutely love December as there is always lots of parties to attend and a good excuse to get glammed up. So you will be pleased to know that Bobbi Brown have now launched there Christmas collection, the Copper Diamond line.

I am not a huge fan of glitter as I seem to never be able to get it off and find it everywhere for weeks to come but the new collection from Bobbi Brown is more sophisticated with a slight shimmer and not OTT so you don’t go out looking like a Christmas decoration.

The item I picked up was the copper diamond shimmer brick. I have not used it for a night out yet as I am saving it for Christmas but I have tested it and it’s great. It comes in five fab shades - candlelight, gold, copper, beige and sand. When I used them all I was left with a golden glow and felt a million dollars.

There is a huge collection from blushers, lip balms and mascaras. So I know what is on my Christmas list this year!

Apply your make-up to perfection

November 6, 2008

When it comes to applying your make-up the best way to make sure you go out looking drop dead gorgeous is all about the lighting! If you apply your make up in poorly lit lighting you kidding yourself that your make-up will look good when you are out as when you leave the house you are going to have lots of flaws!
To avoid going out looking like a clown a lighted mirror will be the answer! This gives you the assurance that you will go out with your make-up to perfection!

I don’t know what I would do without mine it is a god send! Before I go out I spend at least 2 hours in my bathroom with it applying my beauty products and make-up!

Applying make-up can be tricky business. See below for my tips on how to make yourself look stunning before you head out:

1.    Firstly use a tinted moisturiser.  Add a small amount on your face and neck. This will help your skin become smooth making it easier for you to apply your make-up. Make sure you leave for a couple of minutes for it to soak into your skin.

2.    Make sure you get the best lighting possible to add your foundation! I always use a magnified mirror when applying my foundation to make sure I blend it in properly and do not leave the house full of streaks! It can be difficult finding the perfect foundation for your skin but the girls at make-up counters are always really helpful and will be able to find you the perfect match. When applying foundation I always use my fingers, it is more hygienic than using a sponge and blends your makeup in easier. Always remember to blend the foundation into your neck so you are not left with line…..not a pretty look!

3.    If you suffer from blemishes or have a spot that has appeared over night apply concealer to the effected area. To make your eyes look more awake add around your eyes to hide those bags.

4.    I am a huge fan of primer foundation and when I have my base complete the best thing to is powder all over my face with a large powder brush. This gives you a bronzed looked and gets rid off oily skin.

5.     Add cream blusher to your cheeks concentrating on your cheek bones to give definition. A secret tip is to then add powder blusher to the apple of your cheeks to give you a flushed look.

6.    With a steady hand add your eyeliner. Do not rush this as it has to go on correctly or it can leave you looking like you have been in a boxing match with Mike Tyson. Slowly add very light stokes of eyeliner, if you are a beginner I would recommend using a pencil.

7.    Make your eyes dazzle with your eyeshadow. If you are wearing black I tend to go for the smoky look but if you are wearing an outfit with a bit of colour try and be daring and use that colour on your eyes to. When applying your eyeshadow start at the crease of your eye all the way to your brow. It is a really good look to add a lighter colour just under your brow line but make sure you blend the colour in properly.

8.    Most people tend to add mascara first but if you want your lashes to have length use an eye curler first then add your mascara this will leave you with extra long lashes. Do not forget to add mascara to your bottom lashes this will open your eyes more.

9.    I never tend to wear lipstick but my must have accessory is lip gloss! Spread the gloss evenly across your lips to add shine and glamour.

If you follow this step-by-step guide you are guaranteed to go out and look stunning with your make-up look like you have spent the day with a make-up artist!

And the worst make-over of 2008 goes to…..

October 30, 2008

No other than the vile Jodie Marsh, i mean what the hell is going on here???

This girl makes me cringe; she is not like other glamour girls she is in a league of her own. I am so intrigued who she gets her inspiration from!

Why, why, why does she feel the need to put so much slap on and the new funky hair do is bizarre!

She is currently in a lesbian relationship with a just as freaky looking woman named Nina, hence the shaven N in her hair………this girl has class!!! Why would you shave your hair like that? This girl is out for as much publicity as possible and when she does not get any her hair, make-up and love life get scarier.

I don’t know why she does it as if you look at pictures when she was younger before she had a whooping 32GG boob job, nose job, lip fillers, tattoos and does not wear as much make up she is actually a pretty girl. Yes, i have just written that Jodie Marsh is pretty under that mask!

Her boobs scare the hell out of me WTF is a GG? Grose! If you are going to have a boob job think the likes of Jessica Simpson or Alex Curran. The natural look is far more attractive, nothing is attractive about double G!

She must spend so much money on make-up and fake tan. By the look of her you can tell that she doesn’t wear good brand make-up as she looks so cheap. NOTE: Use your hand or make-up brush to add your make-up not a shovel!

She is the only girl that i can look at and be put off plastic surgery. Everything she has had has completely cocked up! She actually makes a prostitute look elegant!

Less is more girls and please never think that you will look good if you copy her look…..

Unleash your vampire side for Halloween

October 22, 2008

I absolutely love Halloween, I love fancy dress so I see this as a perfect excuse to really go OTT and I have come up with a few tips on transforming yourself into a sexy vampire.

You only need to go for 3 colours, black, red and purple!

I love dressing up as a vampire for Halloween as the look is sophisticated. You need to keep your makeup neat but really go overboard on your eyeshadow.

One first rule for a vampire: PALE! You need to keep your base pale, go for palest foundation as you need to create a death look like your skin has never seen the sunlight.

Go for a dark blue and purple eyeshadow and smudge small amounts under your eyes. Dark grey is good for your cheekbones to make your face look drawn and not so human.

Make your eyes stand out by adding tones of eyeliner! Add the liner to the bottom and top of your lids! I would definitely recommend using liquid eyeliner and finish the look with some fake long black eyelashes.

Think red lots of red for your eyeshadow. Who says a vampire can’t be sexy!

Make your lips stand out by adding a deep red lipstick (bloodstained red) topped with lots of lip gloss! To create a dramatic look do not forget to add dark red lip liner.

If you are daring enough add some fangs and a sexy, sophisticated vampire has been created!

New beauty brand coming soon!

October 21, 2008

There is a new British cosmetic brand arriving at Selfridges soon!

It looks amazing and puts M.A.C to shame with there colour ranges. Get ready for this there is over 40 lipstick shades and 140 eyeshadow shades. I didn’t realise there was that many colours!!! The colours and the packaging looks gorgeous, so fingers crossed the quality of the products will be just as good.

Illamasqua prides itself on being the first cosmetics line to focus on ‘night-time make-up’.

How much fun is it going to be getting dolled up for a night out with this many colours to choose from. I am sure you will be able to create a dramatic look and accentuate your look with this range.

Alongside the eyeshadows and lipsticks there will also be primers, foundations, powders and mascara.
I know that come November I will definitely be stocking up on there products!!!

How to create the Punk beauty

October 14, 2008

Autumn’s hottest new beauty trend is Punk beauty. The catwalks have been sporting this look with a touch of metallic, heavy black lashes, ruby stained lips and black nails.

I think this look is cool and looks really different! The thing with punk is that you can make a real statement with your makeup. People see Punk as rebellious but is now a statement about fashion.

See below on how to create this look to perfection:

Firstly you have to look for a palette that allows you to get creative. Metallic colours are fab and you need to go for liquid and crème formulations. I would highly recommend M.A.C products as they have loads of combinations.

You need to keep your foundation flawless and pale. Next you need to sculpt your cheekbones. The key to this look is a matte base softened with rosy blush like. Use a crème blusher this will accentuate your cheekbones.

With the punk look it is all about the eyes. Think bold and dramatic! Use black eyeliner to draw attention to your eyes with a thick eyeliner on the bottom lid of your eye and above your lash line and add metallic, smoky eyeshadow right up to your brow line. To finish the look add plenty of black mascara or even better add some fake thick, black fake eyelashes.

For added edge, finish this look with a slick of clear Lipgloss on your lips and paint your nails black or dark blue.

All you need now is some cool clothes and a rock chic has been created!!!

Prepare for a date with Mr Perfect!

October 1, 2008

It used to be hard work trying to find a date but now it couldn’t be easier thanks to UK Dating. So girls you have no excuse not to go out and get wined and dined and look your best! One of my friends in particular is a huge fan of this and has so much fun and it is more fun for us helping her get glammed up!

Getting dolled up for a romantic night on the town with a cute date can be extremely daunting and nerve racking! It can easily lead to a migraine or worse hair tearing madness!

Before I go on a date the best part of getting ready has to be the shower, give your skin a good exfoliate and scrub and smoother yourself in moisturiser and as soon as you get out apply perfume to your pulse points. Then it’s time to give yourself a mini facial, wash, tone and moisturise your face.

The tough is now to come the make-up – one main rule you have to keep it feminine and flirty – the perfect mix of sweet and sexy! The best thing to do is entice him with your eyes, lots of eyeshadow, choose a colour that flatters you skin tone – you can never go wrong with a warm brown , and add black eyeliner this will make your eyes stand out a mile and LOTS of mascara . The rest of your makeup must be simply irresistible only add a small amount of foundation and a soft shade of blusher for your cheeks. Add shine to your lips and keep them neutral so they look good enough to kiss.

Now all you need is a fab outfit some killer heels and hey presto your done!

Freak Alert…

September 22, 2008

If you are a Big Brother fan I am sure you couldn’t of missed the fact Stuart is not shy when it comes to wearing a bit of eye shadow and eyeliner. I must say I do find him absolutely gorgeous. He reminds me of Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean.

But what the hell was going on when he turned up at Selfridges to launch YSL Touche Edclat For Men? I mean why why why why why would he wear all that slap. He looked like a drag queen. I think it is bad enough men wearing make-up but all that mascara is vile.

I had a good rant about this recently as I don’t believe that men should have many beauty products but know they are going to be wearing make-up. It has to stop here before you know it men will be wearing stilettos!

If you are a man who has no shame in wearing make-up Touche Eclat For Men is unfragranced and is to encourage you to wear it is a skin enhancer, rather than create a full make-up look. This is in follow up to this years bizarre launch of guy-liner and man-scara. I am not trying to sell this to you as I think you will look a complete pratt but everyone has there on taste!

I think Stu is in need of make-up remover fast and good body scrub to remove his fake tan.

Do you think he is a hotty or a notty?
