Checks before having your teeth whitened

March 27, 2009

Summer is nearly here and we all want a Hollywood smile to match our suntans.

Teeth laser treatment is now a cheap and quick way to get a dazzerling white smile in an hour but there are risks that you need to look out for before having your teeth lasered.

Stick to these tips and you can get your teeth lasered white with peace of mind:

Consult your dentist first and book an appointment with the hygienist, who will clean your teeth in preparation for the treatment.

Ask what chemicals they are using. Don’t be fooled into thinking chlorine dioxide is safe!

Check that the procedure is carried out by a qualified dental professional. You can ask for their registration number and look them up on the General Dental Council website, www.gdc-uk.org

Ask for your top teeth to be bleached first, so you can compare your natural colour on the bottom. A few shades is normally enough to get the desired colour.
