Coloured Contacts – Stand Out In The Crowd

May 15, 2008

I was getting bored of having the same colour eyes and wanted a change. I have heard of coloured contacts but was always unsure about how they would look after months of debiting i thought it was about time i give them a try. I was amazed at how many different colours they come in, you can buy them in Green, Hazel, Grey, Blue, if you want to be a little crazy flags. You can buy these at most high street opticians but to pick up a bargain go to Fresh Look Colour Contact Lenses. I have bought a selection of colours from this company, the service is great and the colours are striking and no one could tell they are fake as they look realistic.

I was really nervous about putting the contacts into my eye, it does take a bit of practise, but practise makes perfect and i am whizz now. All you have to do is open your eyelid with your fingers and very carefully put the lens in with your fingertip.

Make sure you always clean the lenses properly when you take them out, even if it is early hours in the morning and you are suffering from a night out, it only takes 2 minutes!

Beautiful Hands!

May 14, 2008

Every girl loves that feeling of gorgeous salon nails. It instantly makes you feel so much better in yourself, If only we had the time and the money to go to the salon as often as we would like! When I get my nails manicured they are damaged within a week from typing so I now look after my nails myself so I am going to share with you my manicure guide that will leave you with salon nails for a fraction of the price.

1. First you to clean your hands and nails in warm water

2. Make sure you have removed all your nail varnish. Start with the base of your nail and make your way to the tip. Keep doing this until your nails are back to their natural colour.

3. If your nails are in need of a trim or reshape you will need a pair of fingernail clippers. Carefully trim your nails and do not cut them to short.

4. You now need to file your nails to make them smooth and get rid of any rough surfaces. When filing your nails you should file from the corner of the nail towards the centre.

5. The dreaded bit………removing your cuticles, your cuticle is layer of skin at the bottom of your nail. Never attempt this without softening the cuticles in warm water, then gently push back your cuticles with your cuticle remover until your fingers are cuticle free.

6. The fun bit now choosing your colour, there are so many to choose from but if you are looking for a colour to wear Monday to Friday and I would suggest going for Black, Beige or Brown. These colour’s tend to go with every outfit. If you are looking for a selection of nail varnishes I am a huge fan of Look Fantastic!

7. Now you need to apply the nail varnish. If you do not have a steady it may be worth getting one of your girlfriends to come over to help you with this, You need to start at the base of your fingernail and in long strokes towards the tip of the nail. I always seem to go wrong on the first nail so make sure you have a cotton bud to hand to remove any excess nail polish. Be patient and wait for your nails to dry, I usually wait around 3 minutes.

8. Once completely dry add some hand cream and sit back and admire your perfect nails!

Clearsasil - BIG waste of money!

May 13, 2008

You may have read or seen the adverts for Clearasil raving on how good it is and you will have a fresh face and be spot and dimple free in no time….if only. In my opinion this is the biggest waste of time and money i have spent using these products. As most girls do you panic as soon as you see a spot so after hearing all these good reviews i thought it would be worth trying there products, to my disappointment i could see my face gradually getting more red, gaining more dimples and my blemishes started to get worse, it completely contradicts itself from the advert, i definitely did not gain more confidence! If you have bought a bottle of Clearasil i would recommend throwing it into the bin. If you are a spot sufferer there are plenty of better products on the market if you look around, it can be more expensive but if you want your skin to glow i would recommend going for a facial and the girls will advise you on the best products for your skin and who knows best than a beautician.

Sun Cream

May 12, 2008

Not long until the summer holiday now so it is time to start picking up some essentials. Every year I go for the trusty Piz Buin, this is fantastic sun protector and never fails to give you a lovely tan that will last for months. I only need to apply it twice a day and I always go away in August so as you can imagine it is very hot! All there products come in a selection of factors so it suits all skin types. If you are wanting a great bronze effect I would also recommend using a teaspoon of oil everyday, you can also buy these as a spray oil which is a godsend when applying. You can pick up some wicked deals on Piz Buin at Boots as they sometimes offer a buy one get one free so keep your eyes open for this and grab them when you can.

See below for a few tips to prepare yourself for your summer holiday:

• 2 weeks before you go on holiday moisturise your twice a day. This works a treat as your skin has not been exposed to the sun for a while it gets your skin prepared for the sudden change of circumstances.

• ALWAYS buy suncreams that offer UVA and UVB

• For a healthy glow moisturise skin during and after sun expose

• Do not put your sun cream on whilst you are on the sun lounger if you can apply 20/30 minutes before your skin is exposed to the sun.

• Pay special attention to your ears, nose, shoulders, cleavage and neck.

• Drink plenty of water

Perfect Curls

May 9, 2008

Now the weather is getting hot it is time to ditch the straightners! The last thing you want to be doing on a hot day is straightening your hair, especially if you own a pair of the super hot GHD’s.

A hot look this summer is going to be curls! I know that i will definitely be following this look into the summer as it is easy and gives my hair chance to repair itself as i straighten my hair twice a day.

Check out some of the basic tips for how to create the curly look:

1. My first tip is less is more – Do not start out with a mount of mouse as it will not create the best look. Start with a small amount, about the size of a golf ball, this will work perfectly for any length.

2. Looking for volume? – To add that extra glamour tip your head upside down and gradually add mousse through your hair mainly concentrating on your roots.

3. Natural curls – if you are wanting to achieve a look that is more natural combine styling mousse with a long or short diffuser. This is guaranteed to leave you with natural curls and waves.

4. What not to do! – Never apply mousse as soon as you get out of the shower. Blot your hair with a towel before applying the mousse. Try and get your hair 60% dry before you begin styling.

5. Best product to buy – Without a doubt the best hair mousse has to be L’Oreal Elvive Styling Mousse Firm Control. You can but this at most stores if you want to buy online visit Boots.

Ambre Solaire Bronzer Self Tan Body Wipes

May 8, 2008

With summer coming up and the skirts coming out the wardrobe, i thought it was about time to start with the fake tan. I have found the Ambre Solaire Bronzer Self Tan Body Wipes in Boots on special offer at a bargain price of £1.59.

The lightly tinted cream helps you see where it has been applied so there are non of the usual streaks.

Dont try it!!!

May 2, 2008

I am very fussy when it comes to shampoos and conditioners, i am not exaggerating when i say i have tried practically everyone there is to offer!

I have already raved about James Brown and how amazing his products are so i thought i would share with you my opinion on what i believe is the worst shampoo and conditioner…….EVER!

Well where do i start these “hair care” treatments left my hair dry, brittle and worst of all fall out. If this has happened to you there is a good chance you have been using Pantene. It fooled me as when you first use it your hair will go really shiny and smooth but give it a couple of weeks and you will see the damage. It damaged my hair so much that i had to get around 3 inches cut off my hair and it took weeks for my hair to repair itself after the damaged i cause using these vile products.

Warning: Do Not fall for the commercials!!!!!

GHD IV Styler

May 1, 2008

I have always had a normal pair of hair straighteners but was recently bought a pair of GHD IV stylers. These have a rounded barrel which makes them perfect for curling and also after 30 minutes they automatically got to sleep so no worrying about leaving them on.

I would recommend to get the products that go with this product as they will ensure that your hair does not dry out.
