Treat a loved one…..

November 14, 2008

Treat that special someone in your life to a Joe Malone candle – you will be In the good books for life!

Ok so the price is a little steep at £80 per candle, yes that is the right total not a keying error, but is so worth every penny.

I was not lucky enough to get one bought for me so I treated myself to one and I absolutely love it. The smell is delightful and really relaxes me. I light it most evenings and it is still going and everyone always compliments the smell. The good thing with Joe Malone candles is that the holder is elegant and simple and looks lovely anywhere in your house.

The entire Joe Malone collection is amazing but this is just perfect and by far the best purchase if you want to unwind after a busy day in bath with a scrummy smell.

How to prevent shaving rash

November 13, 2008

How god damn annoying are shaving rashes! There are many ways to prevent a shaving rash leaving you with smooth skin after a shave.

It is all about how you use your razor to keep yourself smooth and rash free!

Ladies just because winter is here that means no excuse for sticking your razor away until Summer arrives again!

Follow my step-by-step guide below to super smooth pins:

Do not shave in the opposite direction to which your hair grows. If you hair grow downwards, pull the razor downwards and vice versa.

Use a triple-blade razor. Using a single blade does not give a close shave! Triple blades give you a close shave leaving you stubble free. Make sure the razor is flexible so say goodbye to your old school BIC if you own one.

It is easy said than done but do not pull the skin when you are shaving. If you do this you will most likely notice that you have a lot of in growing hairs.

NEVER dry shave, you have to prepare your skin with a shaving gel before hand. Do not use soap it dries out your skin and is a big no no for shaving. When you have applied the shaving cream leave for a few seconds to let the hairs soften.

When you have finished shaving slather the area in moisturiser to ensure that it does not dry the skin.

If you follow the above you will have soft lefts and notice that you will not suffer from dreaded stubble after!

Shine this Christmas

November 12, 2008

Can you believe it is nearly Christmas, so you know what that means …it is time to do some serious partying!!!

I absolutely love December as there is always lots of parties to attend and a good excuse to get glammed up. So you will be pleased to know that Bobbi Brown have now launched there Christmas collection, the Copper Diamond line.

I am not a huge fan of glitter as I seem to never be able to get it off and find it everywhere for weeks to come but the new collection from Bobbi Brown is more sophisticated with a slight shimmer and not OTT so you don’t go out looking like a Christmas decoration.

The item I picked up was the copper diamond shimmer brick. I have not used it for a night out yet as I am saving it for Christmas but I have tested it and it’s great. It comes in five fab shades - candlelight, gold, copper, beige and sand. When I used them all I was left with a golden glow and felt a million dollars.

There is a huge collection from blushers, lip balms and mascaras. So I know what is on my Christmas list this year!

Look fantastic with Revlon

November 11, 2008

Ladies welcome to Revlon, Wow, I have never come across such a talented foundation! This is fan-tas-tic!!!
For some reason I have always shied away from Revlon but how wrong was i? There foundation is perfect. With Beyond Natural Skin Matching Makeup you cant go wrong. Everyone must have at least once bought a foundation and got home and it is either to dark or to light and looks terrible but this foundation could put an end to all those problems.

When I first tested the foundation I was a little wary as it goes on white, don’t panic though be patient, it gradually changes colour to match your exact skin tone. How amazing is that really?!? Not only does it leave you looking flawless and not a streak in sight it’s also really light on your skin and does not make you feel as though you are wearing a mask, looks natural and does not flake .

After using this foundation for the past week I have noticed a huge improvement in my skin and it feels smooth all day with not a blemish in site.

Two thumbs up, you will not be disappointed!

If you have tried this too share your thoughts and let me know what you think???

Hollywood Toes Disaster!

November 10, 2008

I always wear acrylic nails on my hand as i have a dirty habit of biting my nails until they bleed, sick i know, but i do it without realising. When it comes to my toe nails i tend to just paint them trusty red but i thought it would be a good idea to get some stick on toe nails that have the same look as my acrylic hand nails…how wrong was i!

When i found these nails in Boots they looked the perfect cheat for making me look like i have Hollywood toes. Reading the instructions they seemed easy to put on and will stay put for a couple of days…if only!!!

From the second i started applying these toes it was disastrous! Firstly i couldn’t get into the glue that was provided with the kit, when i went to open it i glued my scissors together then it exploded all over my pants that i was wearing, not good when i am wearing Juicy velour pants! By this point i was wanting to tear my hair out! When i came to applying the fake nails i realised just what a pile of crap i have purchased. They are so fiddly and do NOT stay on. I added the glue onto each nail and pressed on my toe for a minute then after another minute i would find it on the floor. The worst was that the big toe nails worked wonders unlike the others, i tried everything to get these buggers off but they were having none of it. So i ended up going out in my new peep toe shoes with two big toes on and my other toes were plain…not a good look i looked like a moron and was paranoid all night.

If you do want your toes to look glam i would recommend getting professional acrylics on your toes or invest in a good nail polish!

Apply your make-up to perfection

November 6, 2008

When it comes to applying your make-up the best way to make sure you go out looking drop dead gorgeous is all about the lighting! If you apply your make up in poorly lit lighting you kidding yourself that your make-up will look good when you are out as when you leave the house you are going to have lots of flaws!
To avoid going out looking like a clown a lighted mirror will be the answer! This gives you the assurance that you will go out with your make-up to perfection!

I don’t know what I would do without mine it is a god send! Before I go out I spend at least 2 hours in my bathroom with it applying my beauty products and make-up!

Applying make-up can be tricky business. See below for my tips on how to make yourself look stunning before you head out:

1.    Firstly use a tinted moisturiser.  Add a small amount on your face and neck. This will help your skin become smooth making it easier for you to apply your make-up. Make sure you leave for a couple of minutes for it to soak into your skin.

2.    Make sure you get the best lighting possible to add your foundation! I always use a magnified mirror when applying my foundation to make sure I blend it in properly and do not leave the house full of streaks! It can be difficult finding the perfect foundation for your skin but the girls at make-up counters are always really helpful and will be able to find you the perfect match. When applying foundation I always use my fingers, it is more hygienic than using a sponge and blends your makeup in easier. Always remember to blend the foundation into your neck so you are not left with line…..not a pretty look!

3.    If you suffer from blemishes or have a spot that has appeared over night apply concealer to the effected area. To make your eyes look more awake add around your eyes to hide those bags.

4.    I am a huge fan of primer foundation and when I have my base complete the best thing to is powder all over my face with a large powder brush. This gives you a bronzed looked and gets rid off oily skin.

5.     Add cream blusher to your cheeks concentrating on your cheek bones to give definition. A secret tip is to then add powder blusher to the apple of your cheeks to give you a flushed look.

6.    With a steady hand add your eyeliner. Do not rush this as it has to go on correctly or it can leave you looking like you have been in a boxing match with Mike Tyson. Slowly add very light stokes of eyeliner, if you are a beginner I would recommend using a pencil.

7.    Make your eyes dazzle with your eyeshadow. If you are wearing black I tend to go for the smoky look but if you are wearing an outfit with a bit of colour try and be daring and use that colour on your eyes to. When applying your eyeshadow start at the crease of your eye all the way to your brow. It is a really good look to add a lighter colour just under your brow line but make sure you blend the colour in properly.

8.    Most people tend to add mascara first but if you want your lashes to have length use an eye curler first then add your mascara this will leave you with extra long lashes. Do not forget to add mascara to your bottom lashes this will open your eyes more.

9.    I never tend to wear lipstick but my must have accessory is lip gloss! Spread the gloss evenly across your lips to add shine and glamour.

If you follow this step-by-step guide you are guaranteed to go out and look stunning with your make-up look like you have spent the day with a make-up artist!

Confessions of a vain man…

November 5, 2008

What is the world coming to why are men getting sickingly vainer! A male friend of mine confessed to dabberling  with a bit of the good old fake tan last night and was boasting how good he looked! This is not normal i know that winter is officially here now and the chance of getting a tan is very slim unless your one of the fortunate people off on a winter holiday but MEN bragging about using fake tan is not normal!!!

Where is your shame i cant believe that men can be so open about using fake tan and not be slightly embarrassed! Ok so a tan does make a man look far more attractive as it gives you a healthier glow and gives muscles the appearance of better definition but please keep it to yourself that you fake tan.

The thing is it’s a girl’s territory when it comes to the masters of fake tanning and men do not have the ability to be able to do this without coming out a streaky mess and looking as orange as David Dickinson.

My male friend in my eyes was a ‘real’ man but obviously not! It has really opened by eyes that all men are at it now and are becoming more like women by the day so i have come up with a step-by-step guide to applying your fake tan to perfection as i am worried that on my next night out the bars are going to be full of orange-clad men.

STEP 1: Exfoliate
Exfoliate all over with a body scrub brush. If your super vain shave all over as fake tan can turn your bristles and hair to ginger. By exfoliating before applying fake tan you are guaranteed not to get any blotches.

STEP 2: DRY
Make sure you are completely dry. If you attempt to apply your fake tan before drying you will be left with LOTS of streaks!

STEP 3: TIME TO ADD THE TAN!
Add a small amount of the lotion into your hand and add to your body as evenly as possible in upwards strokes.

Do not forget your:
Lower Leg
Upper Leg
Arms
Chest
Neck
Face
Back – This is the point where you need a friend who is not going to rip the piss out of you or a loyal girlfriend who is not going to run a mile!

STEP 4: Wash
The palms of your hands are the tell tale signs that you are wearing fake tan. So after applying fake tan wash your hands in warm soapy water and then scrub, scrub, scrub with a nail brush !

LAST BUT NOT LEAST: Don’t even ask to sleep over at our house as we prefer our bed sheets to be white not orange!!!

Make your own scrumptious face mask

November 4, 2008

We all love a bit of chocolate cos it tastes so good damn good but not only is it good for your taste buds it also works miracles for your skin. As it is full of antioxidants it makes you skin get a healthy glow and improves your mood.

See below on how to make your own delicious facial and nourish you skin:

Add 1/3 of a cup of cocoa powder and 3 tea spoons of oatmeal powder into a bowl
Add a sprinkle of salt and ¼ of a cup of milk and stir together all the ingredients together
Pour into a boiler and keep stirring until it is like a pudding texture
Take off heat and allow cooling for a few minutes
Make sure you clean your face until all make-up is removed
Apply the face mask and massage all over your face and leave for 15 minutes
Wash off with warm water

Just make sure you do not get to tempted to eat the mask before applying to your face!

Control your frizz

November 3, 2008

I am one of those unfortunate girls that suffer’s from ‘crazy’ hair syndrome. In the morning I have serious bed hair and look like I have been dragged through a hedge back and forth about 10 times. I don’t know how this manages to happen as I didn’t think I was that restless in my sleep.

The good thing is that when it comes to my hair I do have patience and will be happy to sit for a good hour every morning with my straightners or curling tongs out! I do have some days though when I really cant be arsed, usually a Sunday when I am nursing a sore head and hangover! That’s why I was one happy girl when I used Kérastase Nutritive Oléo-Curl and it worked to perfection!

It is by far the best product I have used on my hair when I am in a hurry to leave the house and don’t want to go out giving tell tale signs of a heavy night and that I only woke up 5 mins ago as it makes you look like you have spent time on your hair.

All you need to do is wash your hair, towel dry it and massage the cream into your hair. Leave in for 5 minutes and rinse out and you are left with a beautiful curly hair do with no frizz!

Absolute godsend, definite 10 out of 10!!!
