Few tips for an instant pick-me-up…

January 21, 2009

If you are suffering from the January Blues and have caught the lurgy that everyone I speak to seems to have at the moment it can make you feel pretty down.

Follow these tips and I can guarantee it will give you an instant boost and make you feel much better in yourself:

A great way to start the year is to get in routine of drinking plenty of water, yes I know it’s bland but it is the secret to beauty. You should drink around 8 glasses a day and it will flush out the toxins in your body which cause tension, aches, pains and headaches. It also helps eczema, psoriasis, dry skin, wrinkles and spots. If you are trying to shift some weight after going over board on the mince pies and Christmas turkey water is great for weight loss as it reduces your appetite.

I have already had a moan about this one but cut out the cigs for good! If you want to make your skin more dazzerling,  have white teeth and smell fresh this year it id not going to happen if you don’t stump out the cigarettes for good.

Sleep is so important! Not everyone realises how important it is that you have around 8 hours sleep a night. If you have 8 hours it reduces your stress levels, makes you more alert, may help with weight loss, reduces risk of depression and helps your body repair itself. So make sure you start getting your beauty sleep and wake up feeling refreshed!

Stop being lazy and spend a couple of minutes in your bathroom and wipe off all your make-up. If you sleep with your make-up you are likely to wake up with dry, spotty skin as you are not giving your skin and chance to breath. Even if you don’t want to use loads of products there are tons of creams and lotions on there that will take only 2 minutes to remove all your make up…no excuses!

Say good bye to chocolate and chips and try and replace with fruit and veg. Instead of piling your plate high with junk when you get home replace with plenty of veg and when you get the urge to eat chocolate when you’re out and about replace that craving with fruit. Getting your five-a-day and giving up on eating junk is not only good for your health but it will help clear up your cellulite, give you a clearer complexion and you will see the weight drop off that will then make you more confident and happy with yourself.

This one might sound silly but if I have rushed out of the house and notice that I have chipped my nail varnish I feel grubby all day and paranoid that people will be looking at my hands, especially if I am wearing a dark colour varnish. Having groomed nails will make you feel a million dollars so try and spend some time giving your nails a bit of TLC. Whether you go for a full manicure or just pick out your favourite colour and paint them yourself. It will instantly make you feel well groomed and smart.

New Year – New You! Go through your make-up, beauty products and clothes and have a realistic blitz. If you are still holding on to items that you have not worn or used in a long time its time to get rid and bring in the new. Your makeup should not be left open longer than a year as it begins to deteriorate so open a bin bag and treat yourself to a few new items. When having your clear out give you make-up brushes and sponges a good clean, I usually shampoo and condition mine and with a thin comb brush through the hairs on my make up brushes.

Last but definitely not least…SMILE! Smiling does not cost one penny and not only will you feel good for smiling it is likely to rub off on people around you. You will look confident and beautiful and people will find you more approachable. If you spend all day frowning be prepared for frown lines and wrinkles!
