Make up to get you through the working day
May 23, 2011
I’m from the school of thought that there’s no excuse for not putting a bit of effort in with your appearance, and even during the week when I’m just sat in the office I like to make a bit of an effort
During the week I do like to apply all my little essentials like powder, lashes, lip gloss and eye liner, although I don’t wear half as much as I do when I’m going on a night out.
Blotting sheets are an absolute must have for touching up your base during the day too, as constantly applying pressed powder is likely to leave your skin looking a right mess come home time.
Big lashes for a big night out
May 22, 2011
Personally I don’t like to do things by halves, so when I’m off a big night out with the girlies, I really get going with the makeup! For nights out, I like my eye makeup heavy- and since I layer on the lashes, heavy is definitely the word!
I wear false lashes pretty much every day as they can make such a difference and are also a lot quicker to apply than a few coats of mascara. When I’m off on a night out though, I’ll use 3 pairs of false lashes to really blow the bar man away! Free shots all round!
Don’t copy the Cher Lloyd look!
May 21, 2011
OK, so she might be young, and every teenager is prone to making big make up mistakes, but 2010 X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd is one huge walking make up mistake!
Like a lot of teens, Cher is prone to pimples, although rather than covering them up with a bit of concealer and letting them breathe, Cher slaps on about 10 layers of foundation and makes them look even more noticeable. The fact that her foundation is always either 10 shades too light or 20 shades too dark never helps either!
Cher must have access to some of the best make up artists about so she really should try using them!!
Beauty for the beach
May 20, 2011
The summer holiday season is rapidly approaching, and if you’re lucky enough to be flying off somewhere nice and hot, you need to start thinking about making sure you’re looking sizzling hot on the beach.
This doesn’t mean flaunting a seriously burnt red lobster look, it’s about how you’re going to make sure you don’t look like a sweaty minger when the temperatures are soaring.
The type of places I go to (Marbella and St Tropez) you have to put nearly as much effort into getting ready for the beach as you do for a night out- so I’m talking false lashes stuck on with waterproof glue, waterproof eyeliner, a lip stain (Max Factor have some good ones) and powdered blotting sheets to keep the sweaty shine at bay!
Makeup for a big night out
May 9, 2011
Even though I’m surgically attached to my makeup bag and slap on a full face of makeup every day, I still get a little excited when it comes to doing my makeup for a night out, as it means that I get to be a little more creative.
At the minute I’ve been rocking dark eyes (I use a MAC pigment called Darkened Red) and pale lips (for this one I usually mix 2 MAC lipsticks- one called Sweetie and one called Sandy B).
It’s a brilliant contrast, and it’s one which pretty much goes with any outfit and it’s one which always regularly helps me to bag free drinks…a good result all round!!
